Chanting is community practice expressing dharma as sound. We chant as a sangha, combining our breath, voices, and intentions. When we chant, we just chant; this is already clear. But it takes training.
Join us in this informal exploration of our Zen chanting. We’ll have a chance to practice and talk about the forms of chanting, examine the variety of chants we use at Hyannis Zendo, play the instruments used in chanting, and delve into the roles of the ino (chant leader), doan (instrumentalist), mokugyo (time keeper), and officiant.
The workshop runs from 11:00-12:30 and will be followed by refreshments.
Registration is required and a $10 donation is suggested. However, you’re welcome to offer what works for you.
